Top Ten "Grey's Anatomy" Characters

Hi! Well, otherhero composed a great list recently. It was a list of his top 10 favorite characters from "The Office." I've never watched that show, though, so I can't even copy him and make my own list of favorite characters from "The Office." I can, however, make a list of my favorite characters from "Grey's Anatomy" using the same format because I really really really like the format of the "The Office" list. Well ... almost the same format. I'm gonna use quotes instead of highlights. Without further ado, here's my top ten favorite characters from "Grey's Anatomy."

10. Richard Webber - First of all, he has the best last name in the world. Seriously. He can be mean sometimes because he is the chief of surgery which means he's everybody's boss. But sometimes he uses his power to help the rest of the surgeons out. He's just a cool guy overall.

Dr. Webber: [narrating] "Being Chief... is about responsibility. Every single surgical patient in a hospital is your patient. Whether you're the one who cut them open or not. The scalpel stops with you. You need to be able to look at her family. And to tell them your team did everything they could to save someone's life. The husband, the wife. Taking care about the people's families. And responsibility... it makes you... you take care of the people's families. But you sacrifice your own."

9. Mark Sloan - He's the one they call McSteamy ... and with good reason. Looks aren't everything, though. Sometimes this guy just has a rotten personality. Actually, most of the time he has a rotten personality. But he wouldn't be as good a character if he was nice and happy all the time, now would he? Being mean is his thing.

Sloan: "Derek's damaged goods. I know because I'm the one that damaged him. But ask yourself, do you really want to drink out of a poisoned well?"

8. Cristina Yang - I have to admit, I didn't like her much at first but she grew on me eventually. She's tough and competitive. I like that we got to see her sensitive side in the season 3 finale episode. The scene where Cristina discovers that Burke not only left her at the church during their wedding but skipped town altogether? Genius.

Yang: "You know, I know a liar when I see one because I am a liar."

7. Alex Karev - He's another one that's really good looking but can be really mean. He gets better as the series progresses, though. At first, he's nearly unbearable. By the end of the third season, he's pretty cool. By the way, his kiss with Izzie in the bar at the end of a season 2 episode? Gotta be the best on-screen kiss ever. At least the best on TV. Don't believe me? Read this quote. He lived up to it.

Karev: [to teenage patient who asks him to kiss her]: "Hey, listen. For a kiss to be really good, you want it to mean something... to be with someone you can't get out of your head, so that when your lips finally touch you feel it everywhere... a kiss so hot and so deep that you never want to come up for air. You can't cheat your first kiss. You don't want to. Trust me. When you find that right person for a first kiss, it's everything.

6. Miranda Bailey - Another one I didn't really like at first. What I thought of Dr. Bailey first was that she was just this mean lady. Don't get me wrong, she is mean! But when you get to know her as a character, you like that she's mean because it's really funny. Now I love Dr. Bailey!

Bailey: "Every intern wants to perform their first surgery. That's not your job. Do you know what your job is? To make your resident happy. Do I look happy? No! Why? Because my interns are whiney. You know what will make me look happy? Having the code team staffed, having the trauma pages answered, having the weekend labs delivered and having someone down in the pit doing the sutures. No one holds a scalpel until I'm so happy I'm Mary Freaking Poppins."

5. Denny Duquette - He wasn't on the show very long, so you know he's got to be awesome if he's this high on the list. I mean, he was only in 13 episodes! His was one of the most tragic stories on this show. Maybe on television altogether. And yet he was hilarious. Not only that, he was very charming. I miss Denny ...

Denny: [to Izzie] "What? You like your men sick and feeble? You don't dig healthy guys?"

4. Meredith Grey - The girl's got issues, no doubt about it. She's quirky. She's really weird. But that's why I love her. I can watch this show and see all of Meredith's problems and it makes me forget about mine because hers are so much worse. Sometimes she copes with her problems well and sometimes she doesn't. She's human. Meredith is a really likeable character. Here's the classic Grey's Anatomy quote:

Grey: "Okay, here it is, your choice... it's simple, her or me, and I'm sure she is really great. But Derek, I love you, in a really, really big pretend to like your taste in music, let you eat the last piece of cheesecake, hold a radio over my head outside your window, unfortunate way that makes me hate you, love you. So pick me, choose me, love me."

3. Izzie Stevens - She's also pretty weird and very likeable. She was very involved in the tragic Denny Duquette story, and so she was a little out of it for a while. But before all of that, she was very fiesty. I don't think she has lost that, it's just been supressed. I really respect her because she's always underestimated as a doctor. She's blonde and beautiful, and worked as a model to pay for medical school. Now she's an awesome doctor. Izzie's amazing!

Stevens: "I swear to god, Cristina... I like you. I really do. But I grew up in a trailer park and I am not above kicking your pampered little Beverly Hills ass. And I do mean physically kicking your ass."

2. Derek Shephard - He's the one they call McDreamy. He really is dreamy, you know. Sometimes he makes me mad, though. It's kinda like Jack Shephard on "Lost" in that he's sort of a leader, but then he started making the wrong decisions and made me get mad at him. And I don't like to be mad at him. He didn't pick Meridith. They ended up getting together anyway, but now the relationship is rocky. He's still dreamy.

Shephard: [to Meridith] "So, it’s intense. This thing I have. For ferry boats, I mean."

1. George O'Malley - Yay George! I love George! He's so awkward sometimes and it makes him cute. And I don't even like to use that word to describe guys. But that's what George is. I laugh the most at the things he says and does than any other character. His mannerisms are great. I just love him. It sucks that he failed his exam and has to re-do his internship ... at least he's staying at Seattle Grace! Now if he'd just divorce Callie (who I really don't like) and get with Izzie (yay!) ...

O'Malley: "Today I committed bird murder and I was forced to touch my dad's ass. I get bonus points for showing up at all."

Well, that was a lot of fun!
